The Swiss tenor Emanuel Heitz recently graduated with an Artist Diploma from the Royal Academy Opera where he studied with Neil Mackie as his voice teacher and Audrey Hyland and Iain Ledingham as coaches. He initially studied in Basel graduating with Bachelor and Masters degrees before winning an operatic scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Emanuel Heitz made his operatic debut at the Theater Basel in the production of L’enfant et les Sortilèges in the role of La Théière and Le Petit Viellard. In October 2015 he performed the role of Richard in Ernst Krenek’s opera What Price Confidence? at the Gare du Nord, an experimental music centre for modern music in Basel. In 2016 he performed in a children’s opera called The Devil With the Three Golden Hair, written by the contemporary composer Stefan Johannes Hanke in Basel. With Royal Academy Opera he sang the title role in the production of Orphée aux Enfers and the role of Mack the Knife in Threepenny opera as well as Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni.
In 2018 he was part of Garsington's Alvarez Young Artist Program
as well as the Opera Studio Lyon where he sang Telemaco in Monteverdis Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria. Back in Basel he performed the tenor role in Purcell's King Arthur at the opera house and in January 2019 he opened with the role of Don Ottavio in Lucerne's new Don Giovanni production. Again in Lucerne he sang Testo in Monteverdi's Combattimento di Tancredo e Clorinda. Later that year he sang his debut at the Zürich Opera House in Mark-Anthony Turnage's contemporary piece Coraline. in 2022 he sang his first Tamino for the Ouverture Opéra production of The Magic Flute.
2018 he gave his debut at the Wigmore Hall with Arias by Rameau under the lead of Rachel Podger.
Emanuel Heitz also carries a great passion for Lieder and performs regularly as an oratorio soloist. The concerts include Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem and Mass in C-Minor as well as Mendelssohn’s Walpurgisnacht, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle and many more with various Choirs in Switzerland, Germany and recently also in the UK.

Der Basler Tenor Emanuel Heitz studierte Gesangspädagogik und Schulmusik in Basel. Fasziniert von Operngesang und Schuberts Liedern setzte er sein Performance-Studium bei Marcel Boone fort. Im Frühling 2014 war er das erste Mal in einer Produktion des Theater Basels zu sehen, wo er in Ravels L’Enfant et les Sortilèges die Rollen La Théière und Le Petit Vieillard sang. Im Oktober 2015 sang Emanuel Heitz die Rolle des Richard in der Oper Vertrauenssache von Ernst Krenek im Gare du Nord unter der Regie von Désirée Meiser. 2016 folgte eine weitere Produktion am Theater Basel mit der Aufführung der Kinderoper Der Teufel und die drei goldenen Haaren.
Ab September 2016 studierte Emanuel Heitz im Opernprogramm der Royal Academy of Music in London wo er im Februar 2017 die Titelrolle aus Offenbachs Orphée aux Enfers sang. Im Juni folgte die Dreigroschenoper wo er die Rolle des Mackie Messers sang und war im November als Don Ottavio in der Royal Academy production von Don Giovanni zu sehen sein.
Emanuel Heitz war Mitglied bei Garsington Operas Alavrez Young Artist Program und seit Herbst 2018 auch Mitglied des Opernstudio Lyon und war dort in der Produktion Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patira von Monteverdi zu sehen. Zurück in Basel sang er in der König Arthur-Produktion unter dem Dirigat von Christopher Moulds die Tenorrolle.
2019 war er als Don Ottavio in der Luzerner Inszenierung von Don Giovanni zu sehen und in Monteverdis Combattimento di Tancredo e Clorinda als Testo. Zudem sang er sein Debut am Zürcher Opernhaus in Mark-Anthony Turnage's zeitgenössischer Oper Coraline. 2022 Sang er den Tamino in der Zauberflöten-Produktion von Ouverture Opéra.
Als Konzertsänger gab Emanuel Heitz letztes Jahr sein Debut an der Wigmore Hall wo er unter der Leitung von Rachel Podger Arien von Rameau sang. In der Tonhalle Mag in Zürich singt er dieses Jahr das Mozart Requiem sowie Beethovens Christus am Ölberge.
An der Royal Academy sang Emanuel Heitz regelmässig in der Bachkantaten-Serie, unter der Leitung von Ian Ledingham. Als erfahrener Konzertsänger hat Emanuel Heitz neben diversen Bachkantaten die Solopartien in Händels Messiah und Alexander’s Feast, Mozarts Requiem, Mendelssohns Walpurgisnacht, Orfs Carmina Burana sowie in diversen Messen von Hayn, Mozart, Schubert, Saint-Seaëns uvm. gesungen.
Als Liedersänger sang Emanuel Heitz mit verschiedenen Pianisten zusammen verschiedenstes Repertiore mit einem Fokus auf Lieder von Schubert, Beethoven und Schumann.
